I rarely open forwarded messages, especially those that talk about personality tests and personal salvation. But this morning, I decided to give two emails from high school buddies, J and R, a try, and ended up more conscious of myself. Here are a couple of things I learned from breaking my routine:
1. From "The Preacher" - Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions;
they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
2. From Dr. Phil's test - Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you, realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is ever broken.
# 2 is actually pretty accurate, especially the part about friendship. Hmm.

It is the frist of a series of 5 lectures in celebration of Pinoypoets' 5th Anniversary.

Postscript: Egay recently released his first novel, "Walong Diwata ng Pagkahulog," which is now available in you favorite bookstores. It won the NCCA Writer's Prize in 2005, and that says a lot. Hope to grab my own copy soon.
